Your race, your pace: HomeRun is back
Published: by Rosanna Young
Last April, over 1,170 people united to help fight homelessness as part of our new HomeRun challenge. Together they covered over 30,000 miles – equivalent to circling around the planet and then some – and raised a staggering £59,000.
We couldn’t be more chuffed with the result and this year HomeRun is going to be even bigger, raise even more, and have an even bigger impact on the housing emergency. Are you in?
What is HomeRun?
HomeRun is the fundraising challenge for everyone. You just name a distance that you want to walk or run in your own time throughout April and ask friends and family to sponsor you to reach it. It’s really easy to track your progress – you can tally up the miles yourself, with a FitBit or with a tracker app like Strava or MapMyFitness. It doesn’t matter where you live or how fit you are, your doorstep is the starting line and every step counts!
You’ll be working towards a fundraising goal you set yourself and will unlock badges the closer you get to your target. Our handy fundraising tools should help you get there.
The money you raise will help fund our vital advice, support, and campaigning work. And with a family currently becoming homeless every 13 minutes in Britain, we need your support now more than ever.
Beth Credicott, who took part in HomeRun 2019, had great success last year and says: ‘I smashed my target for fundraising and far exceeded the expectations I had in my own abilities. Nothing was more rewarding then achieving these two milestones by supporting a fantastic charity. Looking forward to HomeRun 2020!’
Hundreds of people have already signed up across England and Scotland. Check out how many people are taking part in your region on the HomeRun homepage map.
How to get involved
You can sign up for free on the HomeRun website, on your own or as part of a team working towards a shared fundraising and distance goal. You’ll be able to see how your fundraising and distance figures compare to everyone else taking part on the leaderboards page.
